Hey, I joined before under another name but I don't think I introduced myself.
I've always loved vampire fiction/mythology. But I didn't get into Twilight till maybe a couple months before the first movie came out. I was turned off by it being targeted towards teens, also that SM is a Mormon... I know, judge-y on my part. I hope I don't offend anyone! (I am over being judgmental about anything especially religion now. I'm studying Humanistic Judaism. My dad was Jewish & I never identified with mom's family. I totally do with dad's family who I'm recently meeting.) But I read the first book so fast. And not only did I get engrossed in the story/plot. I was convinced Stephanie Meyer was from where I grew up. Port Townsend WA, VERY close to Forks. The details were fantastic, so spot on. They filmed outside of Portland OR, another place I've lived but they did a good job of making it look like the Olympic Peninsula. The parts that were really spot on for the area added in the movie I was a bit disappointed to find out how the other regionalism were added by Billy Burke and the extras. But I've worked in film so I should know better, stuff like that changes all the time during filming. When Charlie says "Vitamin R" for the Rainer beer I just about died. My uncles lived for their "Vitamin R".
But now I have Midnight Sun on my computer and I'm having such a hard time putting off reading it, I want to read the final version, and reading on my laptop sucks...
- Favorite character: Easy, Alice.
- (had to add this) Character crush: JASPER!! But I've been getting into Jackson Rathbone as an actor/musician big time
- Favorite book: Total tossup between Twilight and Breaking Dawn for such such different reasons.
- Other books I like to read: I've got a bit of a problem there... I get so bored if it's not vampire based... I'm going into the Sookie Stackhouse series now
- Rest about me? Dunno... Love hockey, Love Russian players specifically, learning languages, traveling, photography, trying to learn to write and web design right now. Also I'm partially disabled and a bit stuck in Buffalo NY right now. Getting divorced and waiting on an accident lawsuit settlement. Moving to DC before next hockey season.

Welcome to the Twilight fangroup on Yahoo Groups!
Let's get right to it then. Couple of obvious, and hopefully unnecessary ground rules: All discussions regarding Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series are welcomed and encouraged. Book discussion is also appropriate; however, let's rememeber why we're here. No 98 message threads on "How War and Peace Changed My Life," Thanks anyway! And while your forwards are cute and all, this is not the place to share them. Also, keep in mind that not all of us are going to be English speaking as a first language, seeing as Stephenie has a HUGE fan base. So keep the internet lingo to a minimum. No posts that read "OMG tht wuz awesum! Talk l8tr." If you can read a 300+ page book, you can type full sentences.
Your first post, ideally, would be an introduction to yourself. How long have you loved Twilight? Which book/character was your favorite? What other books do you like to read? There isn't a set introduction. Just say what you think will give us all a better idea of who you are!
Your membership allows you to add photos, fanart, avatars and the like in the Photos section. If you don't see the proper folder for what you're putting up, make one. If I have another idea, I'll suggest it as the need arises, but please don't just pick a folder and shove it anywhere. As you'll see, it's organized in there and I'd like to keep it that way. You can also post links to other Stephenie Meyer related sites in the Links section. I've seen some really great sites in there, so feel free to check them out. You can also make polls in the Polls section. They don't have to close, you can leave them open that way people can continue to vote, or change their minds, or do whatever. If you need help with anything, send me a message, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
The main forum is for sharing fanfics for now, but I'm hoping there's a way to get them separate so as not to make mile-long posts. But for now, just go ahead and put them up. Also good on the main forum are book discussions, questions about the series, recommendations for other books while we are (currently) waiting for Eclipse, and other fun stuff like that.
Respect each other at all times. And on the main forum, PG13 please; seeing as Stephenie is a Mormon author, she has a Mormon fan base, and it's likely you'll meet other Mormons while you're here. If your fanfic is graphic or could offend someone, lable it as such in the Subject. (I'm thinking using the standard movie rating system will work; PG, PG13, and R is fine.)
OK, I think that's everything for right now. Questions? Comments? Suggestions? Send them to me, and I'll take care of it!
Thanks!
